“Inspiring and empowering people to bring forth their best self by cultivating a strengths-based approach to life, has always been an integral part of how I express my commitment to unlocking the potential we all carry within.”
— Gina Lockwood-Sheehan
What is Strengths-based Coaching?
We all have strengths that help us navigate our world. Our character strengths can be cultivated and leveraged to assist us in achieving our goals and getting in sync with our core beliefs and values.
Research has demonstrated that developing and appreciating our unique character strengths and those of others (termed - “strength spotting”), is associated with increased well-being and better health.

How I do I use my top 3 VIA strengths as a Health Coach?
Honesty / Integrity
“To thine own self be true”.
William Shakespeare
This strength is the lens through which I view the world and it drives all of my decisions. As a health coach, Honesty/Integrity is demonstrated through honoring my commitments.
Love of Learning
“Learn as if you were to live forever”.
— Mahatma Gandhi
The Love of Learning strength captures two areas within the health coaching role:
Learning as much as possible about my clients, and myself to develop awareness of the “why” behind our decisions and actions.
Seeking constructive feedback from clients to ensure the coaching sessions are adding value to your life and supporting you in a way that truly fulfills your needs.
Bravery
“Courage is to tell the story of who you are with your whole heart”.
— Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW
Many health coaching clients are dealing with several physical ailments and/or diagnoses, as well as being emotionally and psychologically depleted. Consequently clients sometimes feel as though their fears define them.
I have brought forth the Bravery strength, to support and show clients how making the choice to restore their health through Functional Medicine and partnering with me as their health coach is in of itself an expression of bravery.
It often takes a great deal of courage to choose a different path and challenge yourself each day to take charge of your health and overcome your fears. As your dedicated health coach, bravery allows me to remain vulnerable and accessible.
